OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (GC Wire) – Former NFL star and Pro Football Hall of Famer Terrell Owens has pledged an additional $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the death of Ocean Springs teenager Nolan Wells, bringing the total reward offered in the case to $125,000.
Owens joins civil rights leader Rev. Al Sharpton and filmmaker Tyler Perry, who previously each announced $50,000 rewards during Nolan’s funeral.
The growing reward comes as the investigation into Nolan’s death continues to draw national attention following his disappearance during a July 4 boating trip to Horn Island. His body was recovered days later, but investigators have not publicly announced whether they believe a crime occurred, nor have they identified any suspects or filed criminal charges.
In a statement released Tuesday, attorney Ben Crump thanked Owens, Sharpton, and Perry for supporting Nolan’s family.
“We are deeply grateful to Terrell Owens, Rev. Al Sharpton, and Tyler Perry for standing with Nolan Wells’ family in their pursuit of truth and justice,” Crump said in the press release. “Their generosity and unwavering support send a powerful message that this tragedy will not be swept under the rug and that we will not stop until the truth is uncovered and justice is served.”
Crump said the reward is intended to encourage anyone with information to come forward.
“Someone knows what happened to Nolan on Horn Island,” Crump wrote. “We urge anyone with information, no matter how small it may seem, to come forward.”
The reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction, signaling that the legal team continues to publicly assert that someone bears criminal responsibility for his death.
Authorities, however, have not publicly reached that conclusion.
Officials have released little information about the evidence collected or the circumstances surrounding Nolan’s death, saying the investigation remains active.
The case has become one of Mississippi’s most closely watched death investigations, drawing national media coverage, celebrity involvement, and widespread public speculation.
